MISSION

Our mission is to promote and preserve the Greek language, embrace and cherish Greece’s culture and history – as it is the country that brought democracy and civilization worldwide -, honor and take pride of our Greek heritage and identity, and reinforce the Christian ideals and values.

CORE VALUES

We are dedicated to teaching our students one of the oldest, most amazing, and most useful languages in the world. All our teachers have years of teaching experience and absolutely love what they do. To further enhance our students’ exposure to the Greek language, we incorporate the Greek culture and history. We teach Greek traditional dances, celebrate important Greek holidays, discuss Greek customs and traditions, taste scrumptious Greek food, and embrace our Greek heritage.

CLASSROOM MATERIAL

We are excited to announce that the Γεια Χαρά series is used at all grade levels. This book series has been recently updated to reflect modern Greece and emphasize the importance of family and traditions. We also use interactive software that enhances the quality of our lessons, while also keeping the students engaged by providing technology in the classrooms. We consistently strive to give our students the foundation to build upon their Greek heritage.

Bio

Mrs. Alexandra was born and raised in Greece. She came to the United States to complete her studies, met her husband, and decided to stay. After she and her husband graduated from SNHU, they moved to Boston, where they attended and also got married at the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Cathedral. A few years later, they decided to move back to NH. She and her family have been members of the Assumption Greek Orthodox Church since 2014, but had also previously attended St. George’s and St. Nicholas’ churches.

Mrs. Alexandra started teaching at the age of 13 at her mother’s School of Foreign Languages in Greece. After 8 years in Lending and Accounting & Finance in Boston, she ended up teaching full time at her son’s school, as well as Greek School. She has been teaching at the Assumption Church Greek School since January 2016 and, after the school’s former director, Mr. George Kitsis, retired in June 2018, she was appointed as the new Greek School director. Mrs. Alexandra loves teaching and being surrounded by children. She lives in NH with her husband and son and goes back to Greece to visit her family and friends every summer.

Bio

Mrs. Ranya is a lifelong parishioner of the Assumption Greek Orthodox Church. She attended Hellenic College and has a background in Elementary Education. She has over 15 years of experience working and volunteering in various Youth Ministry programs throughout the Metropolis of Boston, including the Metropolis of Boston Summer Camp.

During her time at Hellenic College, Mrs. Ranya worked as an Assistant Greek School teacher at the Saint Nectarios (Roslindale, MA) and Annunciation Cathedral (Boston, MA) Greek School programs. Most recently, she taught Greek for the Pre-School through Second Grade Saturday morning program at Saint Catherine’s in Braintree, MA until the birth of her first child. She is very excited to be working with the Greek School children in her hometown. Mrs. Ranya and her husband, Tasos, reside in Manchester with their two children.

Bio

Mrs. Maria was born and raised in Athens, Greece. She studied Economics at the University of Athens and continued her education in Accounting at the University of London. While a student at the university, she taught, through private lessons, children in Elementary and High School.

Mrs. Maria moved to the United States in 2015 with her husband, Ari. They have been living in Manchester with their two children for the past 8 years. Mrs. Maria loves working with children and makes teaching as fun as possible. She loves travelling and going back to Greece at every opportunity.

Bio

Athena Moutsioulis Bevan was born and raised in Manchester, NH. She is a proud graduate of the Assumption Greek School program and former member of a local Greek dance group. Athena graduated from UVM with an undergraduate degree in biological sciences and from UNH with a Master of Science degree in Nutrition. She conducted and published her own research and was a contributor to a major clinical cancer study with results published in the New England Journal of Medicine.

Athena lives in Londonderry with her husband, Carter, and their three kids. Athena and her family are active members of St. George Cathedral. She is the current Sunday School Director at St. George. Athena is so happy to be a part of the Greek School program as the new co-instructor for dance!

Bio

Evangelia Georgiadis Cardoza (Mrs. Angela) has been a lifelong member of the Assumption Greek Orthodox Family. Kiria Evangelia started dancing at a young age – since she started walking and has not stopped since! Evangelia has been in various professional dance groups that have performed throughout New England and danced throughout college and minored in dance as well.

Evangelia completed the Greek School program at Assumption and is honored to give back to the church community to teach dance and watch her son Jordan learn about the Greek culture through dance as well.

Evangelia resides in Manchester with her husband Keith and son Jordan who keeps them very busy in many activities.
